Gold, electronic goods seized from passenger at Chennai airport

CHENNAI: Customs officers at Chennai international airport seized 774 grams of gold ingot and electronic goods, totally worth Rs 35.27 lakh, from a passenger in the early hours of Thursday. The passenger was arrested.
Based on intelligence, a 21-year-old man who arrived from Dubai in an Emirates flight (EK 0542) at 2.35am, was intercepted. On examination of his person, three bundles were recovered from his rectum.This resulted in recovery of gold ingot weighing 774 grams worth Rs 32.77 lakh.
From his checked-in baggage, undeclared electronic goods worth 2.5 lakh were seized.
